The Texas Rangers are a Major League Baseball (MLB) team based in Arlington, Texas. Founded in 1961, the Rangers are a member of the American League (AL) West division. They play their home games at Globe Life Field, which opened in 2020. Over the years, the Rangers have built a loyal fan base and have had periods of competitive success, including two consecutive AL pennants in 2010 and 2011.
The Texas Rangers are known for their strong offensive capabilities, particularly during the mid-2010s when they featured several All-Star players. An interesting fact is that they are the only team in MLB history to have had a player hit a home run in the same game during their final at-bat as a Ranger, and then again in their first at-bat with another team. This was accomplished by Adrian Beltre in 2016.
A less widely known aspect of the Texas Rangers' history is that they were initially established as the Washington Senators in 1961 before relocating to Texas in 1972. Additionally, the team has a unique connection to the community as they were named after the Texas Rangers law enforcement agency, symbolizing the spirit of Texas and its wild west heritage.
