Analysis

The Cleveland Guardians (formerly known as the Indians) are a professional baseball team based in Cleveland, Ohio. They are one of the eight original teams in Major League Baseball (MLB) and have been playing in the league since 1901.

In the 2019 season, the Guardians finished with a winning record of 44-38, which was good for second place in their division. However, they lost to the Minnesota Twins in the AL Wild Card Game.

The team's home stadium is Progressive Field, located in downtown Cleveland. The Guardians have won several championships, including the World Series in 1920 and the American League pennant in 1954.

The team's name was changed from Indians to Guardians in 2022, as a result of the removal of the "Indians" name due to concerns about Native American stereotypes. Updated: June 26, 2025 at 10:27 PM
